Recently, Tianjin Langxing Technology Co., Ltd. successfully completed the acceptance and put into use of a deep dehydration system provided to a leading domestic caprolactam production enterprise. The system operates stably and key indicators are better than expected, providing reliable technical support for customers to achieve high-quality raw material production.
Caprolactam, as the core raw material for producing polyamide (trade name “nylon”, chemical abbreviation PA), is one of the most widely used varieties among the five major engineering plastics. Polyamide materials play an irreplaceable role in many fields such as textiles, machinery, chemicals, and communications. Their production processes mainly include two routes: hydrolysis polymerization and anionic polymerization.
Compared with hydrolysis polymerization, anionic polymerization process has significant advantages such as short process, fast reaction, low energy consumption, and high polymer molecular weight. However, this process requires extremely high purity of raw materials, especially sensitive to moisture content, which needs to be strictly controlled below 100ppm, preferably below 50ppm. Due to the strong binding ability of caprolactam with water, traditional dehydration methods can usually only reduce the moisture content to 300-500ppm, posing significant technical challenges for further dehydration.
Tianjin Langxing has innovatively developed an anhydrous caprolactam deep dehydration system with a special structure dehydration tower as the core to address the challenges in this industry. Combined with auxiliary technologies such as vacuum systems, it has successfully controlled the moisture content of raw materials below 40ppm. The entire system operates at low temperatures during the production process, with excellent airtightness to effectively prevent oxidation and discoloration of raw materials.
The application of low moisture content caprolactam in the production of PA6 through anionic polymerization can significantly improve the melt spinnability; When used in the production of engineering plastic products, high molecular weight nylon products can be prepared, effectively improving the mechanical properties and market competitiveness of end products, with broad application prospects.
